I participated in a poster competition organised by the Yad Vashem to commemorate Holocaust Memorial Day.
I became very interested in Arab humanitarian efforts to support Jews during the Holocaust and came across one such hero during my research. By illuminating his story, I wanted to strike at the heart of what the real purpose of a memorial should be. That is, not just remembering tragedy in a purely ritualistic fashion, but taking lessons learned and actively implementing them.
I wanted to memorialise the message, the hope. I wanted people to think about how we can take what we learned from the Holocaust and make the world better right now. So my focus for the poster became the shared humanity that unites all peoples.
Please note this poster has not been art directed, as you can probably tell.
